Ford's Magic Fifth!

Facebook is sort of like potato chips for me. If I have some in the house, I can't just eat a few; I eat the whole bag. Facebook, while a great way to share pics of the kids, dinner, or our weekend activities, tends to consume more free time than I would like. So I temporarily deactivated my account to take a break. But I still want to be able to share photos with family and friends, so I thought I would return to the ol' blog. Hopefully this works just as well.

Ford celebrated his 5th birthday this past Thursday and on Saturday we hosted a dinosaur-themed party at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. I think all of the kids had fun. I certainly enjoyed the planning and prep. Here are a few shots of the event and a few from our little celebration at the house on Thursday. Enjoy!

Fall 2012 Family Photo Shoot

Hi everyone! We had some photos taken in November and my intentions were to print photos in time for Christmas but, well, that's not going to happen. But I still want to share these photos with you and I thought I would post them so you could choose which of them you would like.

If you would like prints, each photo is numbered; just let me know the number (listed below the image) and the size you would like (5x7, 8x10, wallet, etc-- 4x6 is really too small to see the quality of the shot, but I can do that too).

I will place an order with one of my favorite online sites that makes really great prints--mpix.com--better quality than Shutterfly, Kodak, Walgreens, and those other places.

There are only 5 different images here, by the way. Each is available in color or black and white.  If you would rather, I can simply choose photos for you, but I never know what sizes people prefer.

Click on any image to enlarge the photo.

Merry Christmas and happy New Year!

What A Day to Visit the Fair!

My dad drove into Dallas to take Ford to the State Fair. We arrived shortly after ten o'clock only to learn that Big Tex had burned to the ground moments earlier!

Here's the spot where Big Tex once loomed tall, waving howdy and welcoming all fair-goers.

A helicopter hovered overhead for sometime as people lined up to purchase Big Tex t-shirts, bobble heads, and other memorabilia. We won't have to mourn his passing for too long, though; Big Tex will be rebuilt. Ford was curious, but not exactly disappointed. Big Tex was a giant he always preferred to look at from afar. To be fair (no pun intended), the massive cowboy is a little freaky.

Despite the loss, our day was full of fun. We rode rides, ate fried foods, visited the petting zoo, and played games. Looking forward to going again next year, when Emmy can partake in the fun!

 Until next year!

Calling All Superheroes!

Going against all advice I've ever been given from wise parents, I hosted Ford's birthday and invited all his classmates. Normally, I've been told that you take the child's age and invite that many children, maybe plus one additional child. But nope. We invited the whole crew and they were excellent! Lots of fun and well-behaved. Here's a few shots from the big day. Ford had an awesome time.

Let's call it a day, superheroes.
